Spanky/Headlock Studio returned to the 'Con with a new crop of idiosyncratic figures. The Nagoya-based operation continues to defy the Japanese toy stereotypes - nothing remotely resembling anime, Godzilla or Ultraman in sight. This Toycon, the Spanky crew had 4 entirely new figures available:

* Spumpkin: a few months after Halloween but no less freaky, this devilish jack o lantern figure came in two variants-monocrome Toycon edition and black Super Festival edition.

* Firey Jack: This glow-in-the-dark elephant figure sold out almost immediately.

* Wheelie Ant: One of our favorites at Toycon, Wheelie Ant has 70s hot rot racing all over it. Several colors were available, including green, red and blue.

* Sick Boy Billy: Spanky had a prototype of this Big Daddy Roth-inspired figure on display for Day 2.

In addition, the Spanky crew showed several of their current and classic figure designs:

* Spanky: The signature figure from Spanky/Headlock, and the mascot of their retail shop in Nagoya. Spanky was available in red and green color variants.

* Spanky mini bic lighter holder and keychain: six new color variations, including crossover edition with Hong Kong's Milk Magazine.

* Micro & Underson: Three variants of this most bizarre set, which features a double-mouthed figure in a dog suitÉ and his pal underson. Spanky also had a crossover edition on display, from a Japanese department store.

* Ray the Aerosol: Spanky's classic spraycan figure was on display, in four different color variations.
