Newcomers to Toycon, Abnormal Hobby brought skateboard culture directly into the mix. Everything they did made quite an impression, from their beautifully designed booth (with skateboard decks on the walls in simple glass cases) to their intricately designed figures. Another one to watch, here-we think the Abnormal Hobby crew might make a big splash in North America.
* "Five" series: The centerpiece of the display, these five laser sword-wielding mini statues capture the grace and athleticism of skateboarding and are detailed down to the scuffs on the boards. The laser swords add to the elegance of the figures, and reflect the style required for good skating. * Kien Lieu: Also on display was a prototype for a beautifully detailed statuette of San Diego-based pro skater Kien Lieu. Kien himself was present on Saturday, manning the booth and speaking with fans. In addition to their own figures, Abnormal Hobby was gracious enough to let their friends at Covert Agent display their "Wizeguy" figure- a cigar chomping, track suit wearing devil lamp. |
